End of Year Letter

A LETTER FROM MOUNTAIN KHAKIS' PRESIDENT

Dear Friends, Fans & Family of Mountain Khakis!

As 2023 draws to an end we want to thank you for your support of the Mountains Khakis brand and business. What a year it was.

As a 100% proudly American owned small business we truly made some great progress in the last 12 months. 2023 was for sure our most productive year post-pandemic.

Aside from being productive, 2023 was our 20th anniversary and we hope you had the chance to celebrate with us! Our product team did an amazing job with a series of limited-edition releases, some of which are still available on our website. Highlighting our proud American culture we released a Legacy Knife, Whiskey Glasses, Hip Flasks, and other drinkware with Oowwee and Stanley. With American Hat Makers we released “The Original Mountain Hat” made in the USA with a beautiful rigid felt that features a hat band made from the same canvas we use for our Mountain Pants. Really thoughtful, really special.

We released the “Journeyman Luggage Collection” in collaboration with Cross Canvas, a veteran owned and operated business out of Asheville, North Carolina. The collection sold out and we have recently restocked for the Holidays!

Speaking of Asheville, we signed on with Asheville based Darby Communications a PR Agency that has been doing an amazing job circulating our products to different publications nationwide. We’ve proudly been featured in Expedition Portal, Field Mag, Magnetic Magazine, Gear Lab, and Gear Junkie amongst others – it’s been amazing to see our products get rave reviews. Thanks to Darby for helping us get our gear circulated more broadly and put to the test!

Nothing says 20th anniversary more than a party! We kicked off the celebrations with Divine Barrel as we released the “Legacy Pale Ale” in September and held events to try on our pants and try the beer with different retail partners in the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, and Colorado. The beer was our third collaboration over the years, and like the two before, the Legacy Pale Ale quickly sold out!

We wrapped up the celebrations on December 1st with an amazing event at Great Wagon Road Distilling Co. where we released our Legacy Whiskey. A single barrel 4-year old bourbon style Whiskey it’s smooth and oakey and wonderful. The limited-edition single-barrel release sold out within two weeks after the release party. The party was pretty epic – headlined by Swamptooth Band out of Savannah Georgia and their big vibe bluegrass sound!

Undoubtedly our most important progress this year was our commitment to significantly increase our investment in the wholesale channel. The wholesale team supports outdoor specialty retailers across America and Canada, and these specialty retailers are not only small businesses, but they are also primarily family-owned. These retailers, and the people who run them, are THE most important people in the outdoor industry. They create and cultivate local communities, and quite simply they are the gateway to the local outdoor playgrounds including National & State Parks, Public Lands, Lakes, and Rivers. They offer expert advice, guidance, and tips for all you need to know to maximize the beautiful world around you. They enhance your experience, and they make sure you have the right apparel & gear. In 2023 we added a new Director of Sales, Justin Julian, and we added over 20 additional Sales Representatives to support and service these Outdoor Specialty Retailers. This investment is a big step forward for us making sure the channel is properly supported as we enhance the outdoor experience for all Mountain Khakis customers right across North America. We are beyond excited to optimize our relationship and support for Outdoor Specialty retailers for years to come!

In conclusion, our 20th year was special. Aside from continuing to deliver great products, we delivered our new strategic plan for investors through 2026 – a plan that is built on doing an even better job building great products, that also sees future releases of new categories and products starting in the coming Spring that our whole team is really excited about.

We want to thank all our customers and supporters of our business for continuing to make great choices. We want to thank all our staff (past & present) as we continue to build on the Mountain Khakis legacy, and we also want to send a special thanks to the families of our staff who support us, and our mission. As we outfit and inspire all those passionate about the outdoors, we wish you a happy and safe Holiday, a Merry Christmas, and great success and health for the year ahead.   We appreciate you, and we look forward to continuing our adventure together.

Kind Regards,

Jeremy Hale

President

  • Have enjoyed buying your pants since I found them in Jackson Hole years ago. Good luck to you and your company.

  • I greatly appreciate the thank you letter from President Jeremy Hale! I grow weary every year after Christmas when merchants complain that consumers didn’t spend enough rather than thanking them for shopping.
You can be assured of my continued business and recommendations for your store.
Thank you and Merry Christmas and may God Bless you in your life.

  • Please continue sending the metal buffalo key ring. My son loves them and gives them out to his USPS fellow employees.
