If you've ever searched for anything from best waterproof jackets or rain pants for hiking, you've probably seen the term DWR. Durable Water Repellent (aka DWR) is a coating added to fabrics to make them water resistant.
How does it work?
DWR will create a barrier against water absorption keeping you comfortable and dry. The water beads up, then disperses, preventing surface moisture from accumulating on the fabric.

Q: How do you properly care for a garment that has DWR?
Avoid washing the garment in harsh detergents, such as powder detergents, fabric softeners, stain removers, and bleach.
Q: How many washes does it last?
Since DWR is a fabric surface treatment, it won’t last forever, however you can extend the life by following our care instructions. Typically, after 10 washes the garment will have 80% DWR protection. This is called 80/10 DWR protection rating.
Q: IN MANUFACTURING HOW IS DWR APPLIED?
A thin layer of DWR coating is applied to the outside of fabric.
